Effects of the Bobath and PNF techniques in torso control training in patients with early cerebral hemiplegia

Abstract:Objective This was a comparative analysis of the effect of PNF and Bobath training on trunk restoration in stroke patients. Methods From May 2014 to May 2016 in our hospital, 95 stroke patients were randomly divided into the PNF group(48 cases)and Bobath group(47 cases). The PNF group adopted the PNF trunk training method primarily;the Bobath group used the torso model training method based on Bobath. The indices of trunk injury scale and Berg balance scale were used to compare the two groups. Results After 4 weeks of continuous treatment, the improvement in TIS and BBS in the PNF group was more substantial than that of the Bobath group, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P < 0.05). After 4 weeks of continuous treatment of the PNF group and TUGT group, the two- and 10-meter walking ability tests were significantly better than those of the Bobath group. There was a significant difference between the groups(P<0.05).The 6-minute walking test result in the PNF group improved more significantly, and there was a significant difference between the groups(P < 0.05). Conclusion PNF training can improve the daily activity of patients and can significantly improve the patient's trunk ability after injury to a significantly greater extent than can Bobath training. This is worthy of clinical attention.
