Abstract:Objective To analyze the occurrence of local inflammatory reactions and the effect on chewing efficiency in the elderly patients with removable dentures. Methods Ninety-three elderly patients who were diagnosed with dentition defects and were treated with active dentures and removable dentures were selected as the subjects of study. The relevant information analysis was used to discuss the occurrence of local inflammatory responses and chewing efficiency after active denture and removable denture repair. The relationship between local inflammatory response status and chewing efficiency was analyzed. Results The incidence of gingival inflammatory response was 12.50% in male patients after surgery and was 15.09% in female patients, with no statistical difference. The masticatory efficiency of the dentifrice was 0.839 ± 0.069,which was higher(P < 0.05). The masticatory efficiency of the prosthetic patients after the non-inflammatory reaction was higher(P < 0.05). Conclusion The chewing function of removable dentures will be greatly improved, but the presence of the local inflammatory response may affect chewing efficiency.
