Correlation of thyroid heterogeneity with thyroid function in a health examination crowd
Abstract:Objective To explore the relationship between thyroid heterogeneity and thyroid function in a health examination crowd. Methods In this cross-sectional study,we enrolled 985 cases of physical examination in our hospital. Thyroid color Doppler ultrasound and thyroid function tests were performed. According to the thyroid ultrasound results, patients were divided into a thyroid heterogeneous group and a thyroid normal echo group. The correlation between thyroid heterogeneity and thyroid function in the two groups was studied. Results The proportion of the thyroid heterogeneous group with thyroid volume enlarging or abundant thyroid blood flow was significantly greater. Compared with the normal echo group, the difference was significant(P < 0.05). The levels of thyroid peroxidase antibody(TPOAb)and thyroglobulin antibody(TGAb)were significantly higher in the heterogeneous group. The prevalence rate of hypothyroidism was 22.70% and the rate of hyperthyroidism was 5.44% in the heterogeneous group.Compared with the normal echo group, the differences had statistical significance(P < 0.05). Conclusion In the population with abnormal morphology on thyroid ultrasound, the risk of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism is significantly higher.
