Analysis of risk factors for advanced colorectal adenomas
Abstract:Objective To explore the risk factors for advanced colorectal adenomas. Methods 804 patients who underwent immunochemical fecal occult blood tests(iFOBT)and complete colonoscopy at the Department of Gastroenterology and Hematology No. 731 Hospital of China Aerospace Science & Industry Corporation(CASIC)between Mar 2013 and Feb 2016 were enrolled into this study. These patients were divided into either the case group or the normal control group based on the different colonoscopy results. Each subject answered the same questionnaire. The data were statistically analyzed by SPSS17.0 software. Results A univariate analysis showed that gender and constipation affected the incidence of advanced colorectal adenomas(P < 0.05). A multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that gender(OR=1.651,P=0.002),age(OR=1.336,P<0.001),family history of colorectal cancer in a first-degree relative(OR=1.534,P=0.048)and positivity for fecal occult blood(OR=1.442,P=0.043)were independent risk factors for advanced colorectal adenomas. Conclusion Male gender, old age,a family history of colorectal cancer in a first-degree relative and positivity of fecal occult blood are risk factors for advanced colorectal adenomas.
