Abstract:Objective To explore electrocardiogram (EGG)abnormality of advanced maternal age (AMA)in late pregnancy and its impact to pregnancy outcome. Methods A total of 167 AMA patients in late pregnancy who receive prenatal examination and in-hospital delivery in our hospital from October 2014 to October 2016 were selected according to therapy order as the AMA group, and 167 pregnant patients with proper pregnancy age in our hospitals at the same therapy time and method were selected as the control group. Routine electrocardiograms (ECGs)were provided to the two groups during the same gestational age. The ECG abnormality and proportion in the two groups were recorded and compared;statistical analysis of the pregnancy outcomes of the two groups was conducted. Results The abnormality rate of the AMA group was 33.5%,which was significantly higher than the 16.8% of the control group, the incidence of low voltage and ST segment changes in the AMA group were 2.4% and 6.0%,respectively,which were significantly higher than the 0.0%and 1.8%of the control group (P<0.05). In the abnormal ECG,the highest detection rate in the two groups was arrhythmia. When the ECG was normal, the two groups had similar delivery mode, fetal outcome, childbirth outcome and neonatal birth weight, but there was no statistical significance (P> 0.05). When the ECG was abnormal, the cesarean section rate in the AMA group was 88.7%,which was significantly higher than the 67.9%of the control group. The overall incidence of adverse pregnancy outcome in the AMA group with abnormal ECG was 26.8%,which was significantly higher than the 7.1%in the control group(P<0.05). which was significantly higher than the 8.1%of normal ECG cases(P<0.01). Conclusion It is more common to have ECG abnormalities and a higher risk for adverse pregnancy outcomes in AMA patients in late pregnancy. For such cases, stronger clinical monitoring, early prevention and therapy are needed to ensure maternal and infant safety.
