Correlative analysis of fractional exhaled nitric oxide level and connective tissue disease-related pulmonary interstitial lesions
Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation between exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO)and connective tissue disease-related pulmonary interstitial lesions (CTD-ILD). Methods Thirty-four patients with CTD-ILD were enrolled in this study. The 34 patients were treated for CTD-ILD and 42 patients for pulmonary interstitial disease(ILD). The ILD group and healthy (control)group were measured for rheumatoid factor(RF),antinuclear antibody(ANA)and C-reactive protein(CRP),and the changes of lung function and FeNO level were compared with those of the three groups. One-second rate (FEV1/FVC)correlation analysis was performed. Results There was no significant difference between the CTD-ILD group and the ILD group (PEF),1-second forced expiratory volume (FEV1)or forced vital capacity (FVC)(P< 0.05). Compared with the control group, the pulmonary function indexes of the CTD-ILD group and the ILD group were significantly different from those of the control group (P< 0.05). The comparison of FeNO levels showed that CTD-ILD group>ILD group >control group (P<0.05). The level of FeNO positively correlated with CRP levels (P< 0.05). Conclusion The level of FeNO in CTD-ILD patients is significantly higher than that in patients with CTD-ILD,which is related to the inflammatory response and pulmonary function of CTD-ILD. As such, the FeNO levels can be used as a diagnostic index of CTD-ILD.
