A study on the gender differences of intestinal microflora consitute in Hainan centennasians
Abstract:Objective To investigate the differences of intestinal microflora in different sexes in Hainan Province. Methods According to the inclusion criteria, 16 cases of centenarians (8 cases of male and female)who had no gastrointestinal diseases in Hainan Province were randomly selected from April 2016 to September 2016. Stool samples were collected, and the whole prokaryotic genome was extracted. The strain composition was analyzed by 16S rDNA high-throughput sequencing. Results The OTU mean of the centenarians was lower than that of the normal healthy group. There were significant differences in the Shannon index between the male group and female group (P=0.034). The results of LEfSe analysis showed that Firmicutes in the female group was significantly enriched compared to that in the male group. Conclusion The composition of intestinal microflora in the centenarians is relatively simple compared with that of the healthy population. The relative abundance of Escherichia was dominant in the centenarians, and the females in the centenarians exhibited a more diverse population of intestinal flora than the male centenarians.
