Abstract:Objective To analyze the correlation of serum HS-AFP and prognosis of patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma before and after interventional therapy. Methods 52 patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma who underwent hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) from June 2008 to June 2010 were selected. Serum HS-AFP was measured by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) and western blot. The changes of serum HS-AFP before and after treatment were observed and the effect of HS-AFP on the prognosis of the patients was analyzed. Results After PCI treatment ,the positive rate of serum HS-AFP was only 38.46% , that was lower than positive rate of serum HS-AFP (78.85%) before PCI treatment (P < 0.05).The positive rate of serum HS-AFP was related to tumor size, clinical stage, pathological grade (P<0.05),and was not related to gender and age (P > 0.05). The rate of recurrence and metastasis was 90.00% in the HS-AFP positive group, while the rate of recurrence and metastasis was only 18.75% in the HS-AFP negative group, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The total survival rate of the HS-AFP positive group was shorter than that of HS-AFP negative patients, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Interventional therapy has a certain therapeutic effect on primary hepatic carcinoma. The detection of HS-AFP can be helpful in judging the condition of preoperative liver cancer, and it is of great value for judging the prognosis of liver cancer.
