Abstract:Objective To discuss the impact of APN, RBP-4 and insulin resistance on patients with type 2 diabetes and hyperlipidemia treated with pioglitazone and metformin. Methods Sixty-eight patients with type 2 diabetes and hyperlipidemia from January 2014 to January 2015 were retrospective analyzed. They were divided into two groups according to their treatment methods. The control group was made up of 34 patients treated with metformin while the research group was made up of the other 34 patients, who were treated with metformin and pioglitazone. The patients were observed and BMI, APN, RBP-4, and indexes related to blood glucose and other treatments were compared between the two groups. Results The TG, TC and LDL-C levels decreased and the HDL-C level increased in the two groups following the treatments;the differences between two groups were statistically significant (P<0.05). The TG, TC and LDL-C levels in the research group following the treatment were all lower than those of the control group, but the HDL-C level in the research group was higher than that in control group. The differences between the two groups were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The combination of pioglitazone and metformin in the treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes and dyslipidemia can reduce blood glucose levels, improve blood lipids and effectively adjust patients' levels of APN and RBP-4, which suggests that it may be useful for improving insulin resistance.
