Clinical curative effect of "Huoxue huayu decoction"combined with dexamethasone on patients with sudden deafness

Abstract：Objective To evaluate the clinical curative effect of "huoxue huayu decoction" combined with dexamethasone in patients with sudden deafness. Methods Fifty cases of patients with sudden deafness in our hospital's Eye and Ear Department from March 2011 -March 2012 were selected and randomly divided into an experimental group (n=25) and a control group (n=25). The experimental group of patients was given "huoxue huayu decoction"combined with dexamethasone,while the control group was given dexamethasone alone. The clinical curative effect was compared between the two groups. Results Hearing onset time (2.78 ± 1.25), tinnitus onset time (1.98 ± 167)and vertigo onset time (1.57 ± 1.17) were lower in the experimental group than in the control group (4.02 ± 2.24), (3.67 ± 1.87) and (2.34 ± 1.44),respectively, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05);The effective rate of hearing therapy in the experimental group (88%) was higher than that in the control group (60%),and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05);The incidence of adverse reactions in the experimental group (12%) was lower than that in the control group (48%), and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion The effect of "huoxue huayu decoction"combined with dexamethasone in the treatment of sudden deafness is obvious:the combination can significantly improve the hearing level of patients,adverse reactions are light,and the combination is safe.
