Clinical study of low-dose aspirin intervention elderly patient for prehypertension
Abstract:Objective To study the effect of low-dose aspirin on prehypertension patients in delaying disease progression and target organ protection. Methods In total, 800 prehypertension patients were selected in PLA general hospital during October 2013 to May 2014; the patients were divided randomly into two groups:one group (the control group) underwent lifestyle adjustment, and the other group (the experimental group) additionally took 100 mg of aspirin. Differences in the following parameters were analyzed between the two groups before and after the intervention: blood pressure, plasma renin activity, angiotensin levels, aldosterone levels, ankle brachial index, endothelial function,high-sensitivity c-reactive protein (hs-CRP)levels and monocyte chemotactic protein 1 (MCP-1) levels. The effect of low-dose aspirin on the early stage of high blood pressure was analyzed. Results Fewer patients progressed into clinical hypertension in the experimental group than in the control group after 2 years (106 patients (26.5%) vs 174 patients (43.5%),P < 0.05),and the clinical indicators were clearly better in the experimental group than in the control group. Conclusion Low-dose aspirin can significantly slow the progression of prehypertension and protect target organs.
