Abstract:Objective To provide the basis for clinical prevention and control of Hashimoto thyroiditis by studying the morbidity and awareness rate of hashimoto's thyroiditis, and the rate of thyroid dysfunction in patients with hashimoto's thyroiditis in Cangzhou city. Methods Using A cross-sectional survey and cluster sampling method, from November 2012 to September 2013 in Cangzhou city, 5095 residents were selected. Thyroid ultrasound, thyroid function including serum anti thyroglobulin antibody (A-TG) and thyroid peroxidase antibody (A-TPO) detection, thyroid palpation, and awareness of patient questionnaire were done. Results 298 cases of HT patients and the morbidity rate id 5.85%. 218 cases of female patients and the morbidity rate is 8.88%. 80 cases of male patients and the morbidity rate is 3.05%. The morbidity of HT in female was higher than male (χ2 = 77.03, P < 0.01). The morbiditye rate increased with age (χ2 trend = 77.87, P < 0.01), and 30 to 39 years, 50 to 59 years were the fastest stages. The awareness rate was about 22.82%in all ages. Awareness rate was different in different ages (χ2=19.08, P<0.01), and the awareness in the elderly was lower than the rate in young and middle ages. Abnormal thyroid function was found in 62 cases (20.8%), 1.35%of the total population. The rate of thyroid dysfunction was different in different ages (χ2 = 8.53, P < 0.01), and the rate in the elderly was higher than the middle-aged. Conclusion The morbidity of hashimoto's thyroiditis is high, but the awareness rate is low, especially in older women. The ratio of merged thyroid dysfunction in the elderly is higher.
