Impact of Sand and Dust Weather on Q/V Band Satellite Communication Links

Abstract：Severe weather conditions have a significant impact on the communication systems of satellite-to-ground links,which have drawn considerable attention.Based on the measured results of the particle distribution of sand and dust storms,the elec-tromagnetic wave attenuation and phase shift models in the sand and dust storms along horizontal and ground-to-air paths are de-rived in this paper.Considering the influence of the atmosphere,the total attenuation of sand and storm weather on the Q/V band sat-ellite communication link is obtained,and the influences of elevation angle and frequency on link transmission are analyzed.It is helpful for the link design of satellite communication systems.
