Practical Methods for Calculating Geodetic Distance between Two Points in View of Geodetic Height
Abstract：The problem of geodetic distance calculation when the effect of geoid height should be considered is studied.A new ellipsoid that passes two known points of the earth＇s surface is constructed,and its parameters are determined.The geodetic coordinates of the two known points on the new ellipsoid are also derived.Based on this,the non-iterative method and the great ellipse method which can calculate geodetic distance are given.Numerical examples show that this paper＇s methods can satisfy the high precision requirement of geodetic distance calculation in view of the geoid height.
