Abstract:The starting flow rate and erosion resistance of the soil bed surface composed of cohesive sed-iment and non-cohesive sediment particles were important factors in studying the stability of the bottom bed surface of hydraulic buildings such as rivers and open channel. In this study, the starting flow rate and erosion resistance of the reshaped sediment samples were explored by the laboratory test, based on the cohesive and non-cohesive sediment particles collected from the Yellow River delta. The results showed that the starting flow rate of the reshaped clay in the Yellow River estuary had a sudden change in the clay content between 10%and 30%.Moreover,there was a significant nonlinear relationship be-tween the relative depth of scour pit and the overshear stress of bed surface. The dimensionless formula for calculating the relative scour depth of reshaped sediment was further derived in this study.
