Abstract:Suspended particulate matters (SPM) of the Bohai Sea were investigated at 264 stations using Laser In Situ Scattering and Transmissometry (LISST) in June,July and August,2015.The results showed that there were four typical particle size distribution patterns in the Bohai Sea:left-peak (particle size rangeds from 4 to 20 m),right-peak (particle size rangeds from 100 to 250 m),and double-peak and negative-skew patterns. The distributions of SPM average grain diameter and particle volume concentration were similar:higher in coastal area and bottom layer and while lower in offshore and upper layer.Marked variations of particle volume concentration wasere found in June,July and August. The strongest variations of the particle volume concentration in surface,10 m layer and bottom layer wasere found in Laizhou Bay,Bohai Central area and Bohai Bay with amplitudes of variation of 207%,240%and 97%,respectively.
