Abstract:The physical experiment is performed to study the wave overtopping over the south breakwater of Wanda marina in Qingdao.Experimental results show that the wave height in most berths are larger than the allowable values in the ESE and SE directions, while the berthing conditions of SSE are satisfactory.Based on the MIKE21 BW model, through setting a virtual dike at the location of the original breakwater,a numerical simulation model is established to simulate the wave overtopping and calculate the secondary wave propagation and berthing conditions. The results from the calculations and from the measurements in the experiment are in good agreement, which indicates that the BW model is suitable for the calculation of wave overtopping and the effects on berthing safety in harbor.
