Current Status of Hydrodynamic Characterization of Ocean Data Buoys

Abstract：Ocean data buoys as an unmanned and automatic ocean observation system are important technical equipments of ocean observation.The motion of buoys severely affects their safety and reliability under severe weather conditions,especially in storm waves.Therefore,hydrodynamic analysis of buoys is critical to the design and development of data buoys.Four major methods of domestic and overseas hydrodynamic analyses were summarized in this study,which included theoretical analysis,numerical simulation,model test and field observation.The development trend and application of hydrodynamic analysis of ocean data buoys were proposed.
