Abstract:A successful simulation for the tides has been done based on the Finite Volume Coastal Ocean Model (FVCOM) with unstructured triangle grids in high resolutions in Subei (north Jiangsu Province) bank. The results showed that the M4 was quite resemble of MS4 which containedthreetidal amphidromic systems, the south one anticlockwise at Channel Xiaomiaohong;the north one anticlockwise near Channel Xiyang;and the middle one clockwisein the middle.M6 has one anticlockwiseamphidromic point and two clockwiseamphidromic points.According to the results, the amplitude of M4 can reach a maximal value of 14cm;MS4 is relatively smaller;and the amplitude of M6is only 20% of M4.A sensitivity experimentwas carried out to examine the role of radial submarine sand ridge system in Subei bank by smoothing the depth around Jianggang. It was found that the submarine sand ridge played importantroles in patterning amphidromic position;however the slope of Subei bank itself dominantly affected the amplitudes of shallow water constituents.
