Abstract:The acute toxicity of rotenone to Lateolabrax japonicas and Chaeturichthys stigmatias wasdetermined with the hydrostatic test method. The semi lethal concentration (LC50) of L.japonicas for6 h,9 h,18 h,21 h,and 24 h rotenone treatments was 18.40μg/L,17.83μg/L,14.55μg/L,14.32μg/L and 13.72μg/L respectively, with the corresponding 95% confidence interval of 17.29 ~19.58μg/L,17.22~18.46μg/L,13.92~15.10μg/L,13.69~14.97μg/L,and 13.18~14.27μg/L.However,when C.stigmatias was treated with rotenone, the semi lethal concentration (LC50) and its95% confidence interval were 45.35μg/L and 16.09~17.88μg/L,26.59μg/L and 42.01~48.85μg/L,16.96μg/L and 24.78~28.54μg/L as were observed after 24,48 and 72 h.These results showed thatthe semi lethal concentration of these two fishes to rotenone was very low,but C.stigmatias had ahigher tolerance to rotenone than L.japonicas.The toxicity grade showed that the rotenone belongedto the highly toxic substances to these two fishes.
