Abstract:Through the combination of SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar)wind field retrieval Geophysical Model Function which is called CMOD5 with the parametric relationships between rainfall and the at-tenuation of C-band SAR Normalized Radar Cross Section,in this paper a simulation model among wind speed, rainfall and attenuation of Normalized Radar Cross Section was developed, and then by using it analyzed the effect from rainfall on C-band SAR Normalized Radar Cross Section. The main research re-sults obtained were as follows:the effect of rainfall on the attenuation of C-band SAR Normalized Ra-dar Cross Section could not be ignored, especially in the case of low and medium wind speed, the impact on Normalized Radar Cross Section by wind speed gradually became stronger than Attenuation of rain-fall,but the effect could be ignored as the wind speed was more than 33m/s.
