Abstract：The general biological characters of Pseudosciaena plyactis in Southern Yellow Sea were studied in this paper. The composition ofPseudosciaena plyactis according to length and weight were analysed. At the same time the relationship between length and weight were analyzed.Also, the variety of sexual ratio, egg quantity and sex gland were studied. The sexual ratio of all samples was: female:male=1:1.27. The proportion of male was increasing month by month. The number of eggs was 2686-34704. The average number was 9518, and the coefficient of sexual mature is 116‰ in the middle of March, 210‰ in the middle of April, 114‰ in the first ten-day of May, only 33‰ in the last ten-day of May; the relationship between fecundity and weight was:F=549.37W-4861.7 (R=0.917).
