Abstract：Based on the different definitions of the mixlayer and the thermocline, the mixlayer and the upper boundary of the thermocline depth of the two sites of the South China Sea (SCS) are calculated and analyzedin this paper, at the same time, a comparison between the two different definitions are carried out. Finally, the thickness of the barrier layer of the South China Sea and the West Pacific are obtained and analyzed.
