Traditional Chinese Medicine Has Great Potential in Aerospace
Abstract:In recent years, China's aerospace industry has made significant progress, with the continuous advancement of manned spaceflight projects, breakthroughs in deep-space exploration, and steady progress in manned lunar landing projects. These developments have raised higher requirements for the health protection of astronauts. As a treasure of the Chinese nation, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has accumulated and developed over thousands of years, carrying profound cultural heritage and unique medical wisdom. Many of its concepts are advanced and forward-looking, offering broad application prospects in the field of aerospace medicine. Currently, TCM has achieved positive results in assessing the health status of astronauts, preventing the physiological effects of weightlessness, and regulating physical and mental states. However, integrating it comprehensively into the aerospace medicine system still faces multiple challenges, including theoretical reconstruction, technical adaptation, and equipment innovation. It is urgently needed to establish a TCM theoretical system and intervention plan suitable for space environments, providing references and ideas for promoting the integration of TCM into the national aerospace strategy and building a uniquely Chinese aerospace medicine system.
