Abstract：This paper briefly reviewed the background and development of space food and engineering, including space nutrition metabolism, space food processing and space food security, each of which provides insights into different classes of space food constituents. Systemically, the newest development and applicaiton of this subject was discussed, which further presents the challenges and expectations in future human space remaining and deeper exploration.
