Abstract:Objective Sustained acceleration during arrested landing will bring adverse influences to the health and the operation performance of the pilots.During this typical process, the motion ranges of the head, the arms and the legs may be large enough to cause collision with the cockpit or the equipment. Methods Dummybelt-seat systems containing dummies of different sizes were built to investigate the motion ranges of different dummies during the typical arrested landing process. The system model contained the rigid seat model, the P5,P50 and P95 dummies, and the six-point belt system. Results Typical arrested landing acceleration at seat base from literature was used as the boundary condition for the numerical study. The motion ranges of the head, the fight hand and the right feet of different dummies were obtained. Conclusion Motion ranges obtained in this research may provide basic support for the design modification of the current belt system as well as the arrangements of equipment in the cockpit.
