Abstract:Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNA) have been proved to play critical roles in transcriptional control,post-transcriptional regulation and epigenetics, which affect the occurrence and development of diseases. The development of muscle, myogenesis,is governed by a network of varied pathways. This article reviewed the biogenesis and functions of lncRNA,the typical lncRNAs that regulating the myogenesis, and the mechanisms of lncRNAs in Duchenne muscular dystrophy(DMD) and facial muscular dystrophy(FSHD) disorders, which provided novel approaches to reveal the potential function of lncRNA in muscle development and diseases, and some preventive strategies to muscle atrophy during spaceflight.
