Abstract:Objective To provide technical basis for the selection of rubber material in the design ot absorber through experimental study on characteristics of rubbers. Methods A metal-rubber composite absorber designed for a thin shell space product was studied in this paper. The influence of rubber material on the vibration reduction performance was researched by comparing the vibration reduction performance of absorbers made of three different rubber materials in the sine vibration test and random vibration test. Results The test results showed that the metal-rubber composite absorber could achieve vibration reduction in three directions. The rubber material properties (hardness, damping ratio) directly affected the vibration reduction performance. For the sine test, the hardness of the rubber material was the main effect factor. For the random test, the rubber damping ratio was the main one. Conclusion The structure of the absorber, vibration environment for product and the materials of rubber should be considered comprehensively in the absorber design.
