Research on Influence of Occupational Characteristics on Mental Health in Flight Attendants

Abstract:Objective To analyze the effect mechanism of occupational characteristics on mental health of the flight attendants,and to provide reference for promoting the mental health level of the flight attendants.Methods A theoretical model was built by introducing sleep quality and fatigue as the mediate variables.186 valid sample data of the flight attendants were obtained through survey.Structural equation modeling technology was used to analyze the effects of occupational characteristics on the mental health of the flight attendants.Results The mental health level of the flight attendants was low,mainly reflected in insomnia,poor adaptability and unable to solve problems effectively,etc.The gender,working hours,flight hours and route type of flight lines had significant effects on the mental health of the flight attendants.Pathway analysis showed that the effects of sleep quality and fatigue were significantly strong between work factors and mental health,and the total effect of work factors on mental health was 0.34.Conclusion Airlines can improve sleep quality and reduce fatigue status by arranging work shift schedule scientifically,thus to promote the level of mental health.
