Abstract:Objective To study the oxygen flow and waste fermentation disposal in controlled ecological life support system(CELSS),and to solve the life support problem in the development of manned space flight technology. Methods The CELSS oxygen production and supply capacity were analyzed in detail according to the oxygen flow in the crew-azolla-fish CELSS.The oxygen shortage and surplus balance capability was obtained.Resuits In addition to the oxygen consumption of the biodegradable waste oxidative degrading,50.4 m2 azolla cultivation could satisfy the oxygen demand of two crews and 100 kg fish. Conclusion Fermentational and biochemical reactions coupled with azolla cultivation circulating system can effectively degrade the waste, optimize the oxygen consumption and improve the material circulating closure.
