Abstract:Objective To research the effects of electroacupuncture stimulation to multiple acupoint (pishu, shenshu and sanyinjiao,MA) on the soleus atrophy in simulated weightlessness rats.Methods-30° tail suspended rats were used as the model to simulate the physiological effects of weightlessness.Male Wistar rats were randomly arranged into 3 groups,n =10 in each group:control group (CON),tail-suspension group (TS) and TS + MA group (TS + MA).TS and TS + MA were suspended for 30 d,and TS + MA were suspended and stimulated in double symmetrical MA by Hans Acupoint Nerve Stimulator per 2 d.Results The microstructure of soleus showed that the skeletal muscle fiber bundles were irregularly arranged in TS,there were smaller cross sectional area, interstitial edema and more infiltration of inflammatory cells. There were similar changes in TS + MA,but more nucleolus quantity and no infiltration of inflammatory cells.Compared with CON,the quantity of Type Ⅱ muscle fibers in the soleus fibers in TS and TS + MA increased significantly (P <0.01),but decreased significantly (P <0.01) in TS + MA compared with TS.Compared with CON,the index of soleus decreased significantly (P <0.01) in TS,and there were no difference in TS + MA.Conclusions The electroacupuncture stimulation is of positive effect on soleus atrophy in simulated weightlessness, but better acupoint stimulation prescription and pattern are needed to be explored.
