Abstract:Objective To explore the oxygen-increased respirator(OIR)'s protective effects on severe acute hypobaric hypoxia and its effect on oxygen free radical. Methods Thirty male New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into three groups, control group(Con)were kept at the altitude of 400 m(the average elevation of Xi'an),and did not wear OIR;while acute hypobaric hypoxia group(H)were exposed to simulated high altitude of 8 500 m for 180 min,and did not wear OIR;OIR protection group(P)were also exposed to simulated high altitude of 8 500 m for 180 min,and worn OIR.Blood gas analysis was relatively performed on blood samples, which were obtained from the common carotid artery before depressurization, the instant moment,30 min,60 min,120 min,180 min exposed simulated high altitude of 8 500 m.In the end, rabbits were drawn blood to measure Malondialdehyde(MDA)concentration and superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity. Results The results of arterial oxygen pressure(PaO2),arterial oxygen saturation(SaO2)and SOD activity in group P were significantly higher than those in group H,and those in group H were significantly lower than those in group Con.However, the MDA concentration reversed the above results. Conclusion The data suggest that OIR increases PaO2,SaO2 and SOD activity in severe acute hypobaric hypoxia,to some extent, protecting oxygen free radical damage from hypoxia.
