Bibliometric and Patent Analysis of Dried Blood Spots

Abstract：Objective By analyzing the literature of dried blood spots(DBS)both domestically and internationally,and combining with the analysis of its patent data,the research status and hotspots in this field are preliminarily explored.Methods The relevant literature on DBS in the CNKI and Web of Science(WOS)databases was analyzed using CiteSpace 5.7.R5 for bibliometrics and a visualization map was generated.At the same time,the patent applications related to DBS were searched through the patent search and analysis system of the State Intellectual Property Office,and the current status of its resources development and utilization was analyzed in terms of the patent application year,applicant/inventor,major technology field,etc.Results A total of 413 CNKI and 6 098 WOS articles were included.The United States has the most literatures,the Netherlands is the fastest rising country,and in the past three years,many African countries have widely applied this technology in the field of infectious diseases.The literature had been continuously increased since 2003.The technology has been applied to the detection of SARS-CoV-2 since 2021.Since 2006,patents in related fields have emerged in China.Liuzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital has a high awareness of patent application and mainly applies this technology to disease screening.Conclusion The current situation of this field can be clearly understood through the visualization map.As a good substitute for venous blood collection,DBS can be applied in many fields.This technology has achieved initial results in both collecting samples together for testing and conducting testing at home.Timely understanding of the current situation can provide reference and direction for the next research of Chinese scholars.
