Application of Spiritual Care Based on Psychological Process"Five-Step"in Patients with Colorectal Cancer

Abstract:Objective To explore the application of psychological process"five-step"in the spiritual care of patients with colorectal cancer(CRC)and its influence on dignity and quality of life.Methods A total of 106 patients with CRC in the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Zhengzhou University & Henan Cancer Hospital from March 2023 to April 2024 were included and assigned to two groups by random number table method,53 patients in the control group received routine nursing,and 53 patients in the observation group were given a spiritual care based on the psychological process"five-part"on this basis,the intervention time was 12 weeks.The patient dignity inventory(PDI),functional assessment of chronic illness therapy-spiritual(FACIT-Sp-12),mental vulnerability questionnaire(MvQ),and European Organization for research and treatment of cancer quality of life questionnaire core 30(EORTCQLQ-C30)were used to evaluate the changes of patients' sense of dignity,spiritual moderation,psychological vulnerability and quality of life before and after intervention.Results After intervention,the scores of PDI and MvQ in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,and the scores of FACIT-Sp-12 and EORTCQLQ-C30 were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The spiritual care based on the psychological course"five-step"helps to reduce the psychological vulnerability of patients,improve the sense of dignity and spiritual moderation,so as to improve the quality of life of CRC patients and find the meaning and value of life.
