Effect of Spasmodic Correction Acupuncture Combined with Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy on the Rehabilitation of Middle Aged and Elderly Patients with Upper Limb Spasms After Ischemic Stroke

Abstract：Objective To observe the effect of spasmodic correction acupuncture combined with extracorporeal shock wave therapy on the rehabilitation of middle-aged and elderly patients with upper limb spasms after ischemic stroke.Methods One hundred and thirty-five patients with upper limb spasms after ischemic stroke who received rehabilitation treatment in the hospital from January 2023 to May 2024 were selected and randomly divided into a control group(67 cases)and an observation group(68 cases)according to a random number table method.During the study period,both groups were excluded from dropout,and 64 patients were ultimately included in both groups.Both groups received routine rehabilitation treatment,the control group received extracorporeal shock wave therapy,and the observation group received spasmodic correction acupuncture on the basis of the control group.Both groups were treated for 4 weeks.The effects of 4 weeks of treatment were compared between the two groups,and the upper limb joint motion,upper limb motor function[simplified Fugl-Meyer assessment of motor function(FMA)]and daily living ability[modified Barthel index(MBI)score]were compared before treatment and 4 weeks of treatment.Results The total effective rate of the observation group(98.44％)was higher than the control group(87.50％)(P＜0.05).After 4 weeks of treatment,the range of motion of the shoulder joint,elbow joint,and wrist joint on the affected side increased in both groups,and the FMA score and MBI score increased,and the observation group was higher than the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion The application of spasmodic correction acupuncture combined with extracorporeal shock wave therapy in the rehabilitation period of middle-aged and elderly patients with upper limb spasms after ischemic stroke has definite therapeutic effects,can increase the range of motion of upper limb joints,promote the improvement of upper limb function and daily living ability.
