Abstract:Objective To analyze the efficacy at different time intervals within two years after patent foramen ovale(PFO)occlusion in patients with migraine complicated with PFO.Methods A total of 261 migraine patients with PFO who met the inclusion criteria and admitted to the Patent Foramen Ovalis Center from January to December 2021 were divided into PFO surgical group(175 patients)and PFO non-surgical group(86 patients).Follow-up at 3 months,6 months,1 year and 2 years, headache impact test-6(HIT-6),headache attack frequency, headache duration and visual analogue scale(VAS)were compared. And surgical complications were recorded within 2 years. Results The scores of HIT-6,headache attack frequency, headache duration and VAS during headache in PFO surgical group were improved compared with those in PFO non-surgical group(P<0.05).HIT-6,headache frequency, headache duration and VAS at 3 months,6 months,1 year and 2 years after surgery were lower than those before surgery(P<0.05).Two years after PFO occlusion, the complete remission rate of migraine in patients with grade Ⅲ contrast-enhanced transcranial Doppler(c-TCD)was higher than that in patients with grade Ⅳ c-TCD(P<0.05).During the follow-up period, very few patients had atrial premature beats, atrial tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, and cerebral infarction. Conclusion PFO occlusion can relieve the symptoms of migraine in different time periods, and the improvement is obvious within 1 year, with good safety and effectiveness.
