Analysis of the Epidemic Characteristics of Six Common Respiratory Viruses in Children at Grade A Tertiary Hospital in Luoyang City in 2023

Abstract：Objective To investigate the prevalence and distribution of the six respiratory viruses in pediatric patients attending the clinic of grade A tertiary hospital in Luoyang city.Methods The detection results of respiratory virus nucleic acid test kits using nasal swabs from pediatric patients admitted to the hospital in 2023 were analyzed.Results In 2 377 samples,the overall positive rate of infection was 39.88％,with the highest detection rates being adenovirus(ADV)(15.57％),respiratory syncytial virus(RSV)(10.39％),influenza virus(IF)A(5.97％),parainfluenza virus(PIV)3(4.75％),PIV1(3.87％)and IFB(1.14％).The overall infection rate was higher in males than in females(P＜0.05),and only PIV3 infection rate was associated with gender(P＜0.01),the infection rates of other viruses were not statistically associated with gender(P＞0.05).Across different age groups,except for IFB,the comparison of infection rates for each virus showed statistically significant differences(P＜0.05).Among them,RSV,PIV 1,and PIV3 had the highest infection rates in the 0-3 age group,while ADV and IFA had the highest infection rates in the 7-14 age group.In different seasons,the infection rates of the six viruses were also statistically significant(P＜0.05),with the highest detection rates of ADV and IFB in winter,RSV and IFA in spring,PIV1 in autumn,and PIV3 in summer.Conclusion Among the six common respiratory viruses in pediatric patients in Luoyang city,ADV had the highest infection rate.All six viruses were associated with season,five were associated with age,and only one was associated with gender.
