Effects of Locking Compression Plate and Intramedullary Fixation on the Traumatic Stress Response,Complications,and Functional Recovery of Patients with Lower Limb Fractures

Abstract：Objective To analyze the effects of two different treatment methods,namely locking compression plate and intramedullary fixation,on the traumatic stress response,complications,and functional recovery of patients with lower limb fractures.Methods Sixty patients with lower limb fractures admitted to Henan Electric Power Hospital from January 2021 to March 2024 were selected and divided into two groups using the coin toss method.Control group(30 cases)underwent locking compression plate internal fixation surgery,observation group(30 cases)underwent intramedullary fixation surgery(intramedullary nail)treatment.The traumatic stress response,complications,and functional recovery were compared between two groups.Results Compared with preoperative levels,both groups showed an increase in trauma stress indicators on postoperative day 1.The observation group had lower levels of norepinephrine(NE)and angiotensin Ⅱ(Ang Ⅱ)compared to the control group,while superoxide dismutase(SOD)increased compared to the control group(P＜0.05).After treatment,the lower limb function recovery indicators of the observation group[American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society(AOFAS)and Hospital for Special Surgery(HSS)]were all improved,and were higher than those of the control group(P＜0.05).The incidence of postoperative complications in the control group and observation group was 13.33％and 3.33％,respectively,and there was no statistically significant difference between the groups(P＞0.05).Conclusion Compared with locking compression plate fixation,intramedullary fixation can help reduce patients' traumatic stress response,promote lower limb function recovery,and can be clinically promoted and applied.
