Validation of Chinese Version of the Questionnaire of Elder Abuse to the Patients Under Hemodialysis by Family Caregivers

Abstract：Objective To test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the questionnaire of elder abuse to the patients under hemodialysis by family caregivers(QEA-FCHP).Methods The scale was translated into Chinese through proper translation,back translation,cultural adaptation,and pre-survey.Content validity was evaluated through two rounds of expert questioning.From October to November 2023,a survey was conducted on 348 elderly hemodialysis patients from a tertiary hospital's blood purification center in Zhengzhou and create an evaluation scale to test its reliability and validity.Results The Chinese version of QEA-FCHP included 7 dimensions and 48 items.The content validity index of the scale was 0.957,and the item level content validity index was 0.833-1.000.Exploratory factor analysis was conducted,7 common factors were extracted,explaining 75.321％of the total variance.The Cronbach's α coefficient of the total QEA-FCHP score was 0.941,and 0.865-0.981 for every common factor.The retest reliability of the total scale was 0.854,and the retest reliability of every common factor was 0.742-0.942.Conclusion The Chinese version of QEA-FCHP has good reliability and validity,and is suitable for evaluating the abuse behavior of family caregivers towards elderly people undergoing maintenance hemodialysis in the cultural context of China.
