Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between serum levels of neuron-specific enolase(NSE),high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP),homocysteine(Hcy)and neurological impairment and prognosis in patients with ischemic stroke. Methods A total of 156 patients with ischemic stroke admitted to Zhengzhou People's Hospital from March 2022 to December 2023 were selected as study subjects.Neurological function was assessed using the National Institute of Health stroke scale(NIHSS)upon admission.Prognosis was evaluated using the modified Rankin scale at 90 days after treatment.Serum levels of NSE,hs-CRP and Hcy were measured on the day after admission. Results According to the NIHSS scores, patients were divided into mild injury group(51 cases),moderate injury group(87 cases)and severe injury group(18 cases).Serum levels of NSE,hs-CRP and Hcy in the moderate injury group were higher than those in the mild injury group, and those in the severe injury group were higher than those in the mild and moderate injury groups, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).According to the modified Rankin scores at 90 days after treatment, patients were divided into good prognosis group(110 cases)and poor prognosis group(46 cases).Serum levels of NSE,hs-CRP and Hcy in the poor prognosis group were higher than those in the good prognosis group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).There were significant positive correlations among serum NSE,hs-CRP and Hcy levels in the study subjects, with correlation coefficients ranging from 0.701 to 0.744(P<0.05).Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis showed that the NIHSS score and serum levels of NSE,hs-CRP and Hcy had certain clinical value in predicting the prognosis of ischemic stroke, with the area under the curve(AUC)ranging from 0.710 to 0.779(P<0.05).Conclusion As the degree of neurological impairment worsens in patients with ischemic stroke, serum levels of NSE,hs-CRP and Hcy increase abnormally, and these indicators interact with each other, showing certain value in predicting disease prognosis.
