Abstract:Objective To explore the accuracy and clinical efficacy of 3D printed navigation guide plates in the repair of pediatric jaw fractures. Methods A total of 64 pediatric patients(≤12 years old)with jaw fractures who underwent surgical treatment in Zhengzhou University Affiliated Zhengzhou Central Hospital from January 2020 to January 2025 were divided into the 3D guide group(32 cases)and the traditional surgery group(32 cases)depending on whether 3D printed guides were used or not.The 3D guide group received preoperative 3D reconstruction and personalized guide plate design for reduction and fixation, while the traditional surgery group received empirical reduction and fixation. The operation time, blood loss,3D CT reduction errors(△L1,△L2,△L3),dental germ injury rate, occlusal function, and postoperative complications were compared between the two groups.A 12-month follow-up was conducted to evaluate the long-term efficacy. Results The operation time in the 3D guide group was shorter than that in the traditional surgery group(P<0.05),the blood loss in the 3D guide group was less than that in the traditional surgery group(P<0.001).The 3D CT reduction errors(△L1,△L2,△L3)in the 3D guide group were smaller than those in the traditional surgery group(P<0.001).The dental germ injury rate in the 3 D guide group(0)was lower than that in the traditional surgery group(12.5%)(P=0.033).At 12 months after surgery, the excellent and good rate of occlusion(93.8%)and the satisfaction rate of facial symmetry(93.8%)in the 3D guide group were higher than those in the traditional surgery group(68.8%,62.5%)(P<0.05),and the incidence of abnormal permanent tooth eruption(0)was significantly lower than that in the traditional surgery group(18.8%)(P=0.048).Conclusion 3D printed navigation guide plates can significantly improve the accuracy and safety of reduction in pediatric jaw fractures, reduce the risk of dental germ injury, and balance functional recovery and jaw development potential, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
