Development and Reliability and Validity Tests of Health Related Quality of Life Scale for Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Survivors

Abstract：Objective To develop a health-related quality of life scale for survivors of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(ECMO)and to test its reliability and validity.Methods Through literature research,semi-structured interview,expert correspondence and pre-investigation,the health related quality of life scale of ECMO survivors was developed.It was convenient to select 182 survivors of ECMO treatment from 5 grade A hospitals in Henan Province from February 2020 to May 2023 for questionnaire survey and project analysis and reliability and validity test.Results The final scale contained 27 items in 4 dimensions,including physical and cognitive function,mental health,social function and social relationship,and general health status.A total of 4 common factors were extracted from exploratory factor analysis,and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 83.432％.The content validity index of item level was 0.865-1.000,and the content validity index of scale level was 0.837.The total Cronbach's α coefficient of the scale was 0.871,and the Cronbach's α coefficient of each dimension was 0.880-0.914.The total half-reliability coefficient of the scale was 0.836,and the half-reliability coefficient of each dimension was 0.817-0.903.The total retest reliability coefficient of the scale was 0.808,and the retest reliability coefficient of each dimension was 0.787-0.856(P＜0.01).Conclusion The health related quality of life scale of ECMO survivors has good reliability and validity,and can be used as a tool to evaluate quality of life of ECMO survivors.
