Correlation Between Serum VEGF-A,MMP-7 and Clinical Prognosis in Neonates with Biliary Atresia

Abstract：Objective To explore the correlation between serum vascular endothelial growth factor A(VEGF-A),matrix metalloproteinase 7(MMP-7)and clinical prognosis in neonates with biliary atresia.Methods A total of 73 newborns with biliary atresia admitted to the First People's Hospital of Shangqiu from December 2018 to December 2021 were selected as the research subjects.On the day of admission,the serum VEGF-A and MMP-7 levels of the patients were detected.All patients were treated with hepatic jejunostomy.The patients were followed up for 2 years,the survival rate of the patient's autologous liver was used as the criterion for clinical prognosis.Cox regression analysis was used to investigate the relationship between serum VEGF-A,MMP-7 and the clinical prognosis of neonatal biliary atresia.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was drawn to analyze the value of serum VEGF-A and MMP-7 levels in predicting the clinical prognosis of neonatal biliary atresia.Results During a 2-year follow-up,18 out of 73 newborns with biliary atresia survived without autologous liver,and accounted for 24.66％,and 55 patients survived with autologous liver,accounting for 75.34％.The age and degree of liver fibrosis in the group with poor prognosis were compared with those in the group with good prognosis,with a statistical significant difference(P＜0.05).The serum VEGF-A and MMP-7 levels in the group with poor prognosis were higher than those in the group with good prognosis,with a statistical significant difference(P＜0.05).Through Cox regression analysis,the results showed that the degree of liver fibrosis,age,serum VEGF-A,MMP-7 were related to the clinical prognosis of neonatal biliary atresia(P＜0.05).The results of drawing ROC curves showed that the area under the curve(AUC)of serum VEGF-A and MMP-7,both individually and in combination,predicted the clinical prognosis of neonatal biliary atresia patients,with a certain predictive value,and the combined predictive value was higher.Conclusion Serum VEGF-A and MMP-7 are related to the clinical prognosis of neonatal biliary atresia and have certain predictive value.
