Effiect of ABA Combined with Orff Music Therapy Evaluated Based on VB-MAPP for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Abstract：Objective To study the clinical effect of applied behavior analysis(ABA)combined with Orff music therapy based on verbal behavior milestones assessment and placement program(VB-MAPP)evaluation for children with autism spectrum disorder(ASD).Methods Sixty-eight children with ASD admitted to the Jiaozuo Maternal and Child Health Hospital from April 2024 to April 2025 were observed.They were divided into two groups according to the random number method,with 34 cases in each group.The control group received conventional ABA rehabilitation training.The observation group received VB-MAPP-guided ABA combined with Orff music therapy,supplemented to the control group's intervention.The clinical efficacy,autism social skills scale(ASSS)scores,psycho-educational profile-third edition(PEP-3)scores,and VB-MAPP scores were compared between the two groups.Results The clinical efficacy of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P＜0.05).Before treatment,there were no statistically differences in the dimension scores or total scores of the ASSS between the two groups(P＞0.05).After treatment,the observation group showed higher scores than the control group in the dimensions of social orientation,social participation,self-regulation,social cognition,social communication,and the total ASSS score(P＜0.05).Before treatment,there were no significant differences in the dimension scores of the PEP-3 between the two groups(P＞0.05).After treatment,the observation group demonstrated higher scores in the dimensions of language comprehension,affective expression,cognitive ability,and social skills than the control group(P＜0.05).Before treatment,there was no statistically difference in the VB-MAPP scores between the two groups(P＞0.05).After treatment,the VB-MAPP score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group,with a statistically significant difference(P＜0.05).Conclusion Based on the evaluation of VB-MAPP,the application effect of ABA combined with Orff music therapy on children with autism spectrum disorder is relatively good.It can improve social skills and language abilities,enhance behavioral and psychological levels,and is worthy of promotion.
