Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of unilateral biportal endoscopy(UBE)decompression of the spinal canal in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation(LDH).Methods A retrospective collection of clinical data was conducted on 60 patients with LDH who underwent surgical treatment at Zhengzhou Central Hospital Affiliated to Zhengzhou University from January 2023 to February 2025.According to different treatment plans, they were divided into a control group[30 cases, received uniportal interlaminar endoscopy(UIE)decompression of the spinal canal]and an observation group(30 cases, received UBE decompression of the spinal canal). The operative condition, pain degree, lateral recess sagittal diameter, lumbar function and complications were compared between the two groups. Results The observation group had shorter surgical time and longer total incision length than the control group(P<0.05).On the 3rd day,1st month, and 2rd month after surgery, the visual analog scale(VAS)scores for both groups were lower than those before surgery(P<0.05),but there was no statistically significant difference between the groups(P>0.05).Observation group after 1 month lateral crypt radius vector was higher than the control group, and 2 months after Oswestry disability index(ODI)score lower than the control group(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of complications between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion UBE decompression of the spinal canal for the treatment of LDH can shorten the surgical time, reduce the pain level of LDH,improve the sagittal diameter of the lateral recess and lumbar spine function, and has good safety, but the total incision length is relatively long.
