Longitudinal Qualitative Study on the Post-traumatic Growth Trajectory of Mothers of Premature Infants

Abstract:Objective To explore the post-traumatic growth process of premature mothers and analyze its related factors,so as to provide reference for clinical nursing intervention.Methods The mothers of premature infants diagnosed in grade A tertiary hospital and admitted to the NICU for treatment in Zhengzhou from January to December 2024 were selected as the research object.Through face-to-face and in-depth interviews,the theme was analyzed by adopting the paradigm of constructivism grounded theory.Results The post-traumatic growth of premature mothers experienced three stages,namely,stress stage,recovery stage,reconstruction and enlightenment stage.High psychological resilience,establishing adaptive coping strategies,good social support,reasonable medical environment support,positive cognition and meaning reconstruction of premature events,positive self-identity and role adaptation are positive factors to promote the post-traumatic growth of premature mothers.Conclusion The post-traumatic growth of premature mothers is a complex dynamic process.Medical staff should pay close attention to the psychological state and behavior changes of mothers at different stages,and provide personalized support and intervention in combination with key promoting factors such as psychological resilience,social support and medical environment support to help mothers achieve positive changes and psychological growth smoothly.
