Correlation Between Carotid Artery Ultrasound Characteristics and Plaque Stability in Patients with Coronary Heart Disease

Abstract：Objective To investigate the correlation between carotid artery ultrasound characteristics and plaque stability in patients with coronary heart disease.Methods A total of 192 patients with coronary heart disease who were treated in the Zhengzhou Second People's Hospital from January 2022 to December 2023 were selected as the study objects,and were divided into mild stenosis group(51 cases),moderate stenosis group(85 cases)and severe stenosis group(56 cases)according to coronary angiography.All subjects were given carotid ultrasound examination,and Crouse plaque score,inteima-media thickness(IMT),plaque volume and hemodynamic parameters(systolic pulse conduction velocity,resistance index and pulse index)were recorded,and carotid plaque stability was determined.Results There were statistically significant differences in carotid ultrasound features and plaque stability among patients in different stenosis groups(P＜0.05).With the aggravation of coronary artery stenosis,carotid ultrasound features of Crouse plaque score,IMT,plaque volume,systolic pulse conduction velocity,resistance index and pulsation index were significantly deteriorated,and the proportion of carotid plaque instability increased significantly.The above carotid artery ultrasound characteristics in the plaque unstable group were significantly higher than those in the plaque stable group(P＜0.05).Logistic regression analysis was showed that carotid plaque instability was significantly correlated with Crouse plaque score(OR=2.347,95％CI:1.078-5.111),IMT(OR=2.828,95％CI:1.183-6.761),plaque volume(OR=3.978,95％CI:1.078-14.677)and resistance index(OR=1.667,95％CI:1.061-2.620)(P＜0.05).Conclusion With the aggravation of coronary artery stenosis,carotid ultrasound features and plaque stability of patients with coronary heart disease were significantly deteriorated,and carotid plaque instability was closely related to Crouse plaque score,IMT,plaque volume and resistance index.The above indicators interact with each other and jointly participate in the development of coronary heart disease.
