Abstract:Objective To explore the application and effectiveness of auditory hallucinations symptom managing in patients with schizophrenia. Methods A simple random sampling method was used to select 104 schizophrenia patients with auditory hallucinations who received treatment in the Second People's Hospital of Zhumadian City from September 2020 to September 2023.They were randomly divided into two groups using a random number table method, with 52 patients in each group. The control group received low-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy, while the study group received a combination of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation at a low frequency and management for symptoms of auditory hallucination. After 8 weeks of treatment, the patients'symptoms of schizophrenia, auditory hallucinations, neurotransmitter levels(dopamine,5-hydroxy tryptamine,γ-aminobutyric acid),quality of life, sleep quality, and complications were evaluated and recorded. Results After treatment, both groups of patients showed a decrease in positive symptoms, negative symptoms, psychopathology, and positive and negative symptom scale(PANSS)total scores, with the study group showing a greater reduction compared to the control group(P<0.05).Furthermore,the intensity, frequency, duration, distress level, and total score of auditory hallucinations decreased in both groups after treatment, with the study group showing a greater reduction compared to the control group(P<0.05).The levels of dopamine,5-hydroxy tryptamine, and γ-aminobutyric acid increased in both groups after treatment, with the study group showing a higher increase compared to the control group(P<0.05).Additionally,the quality of life scores increased in both groups after treatment, with the study group showing a higher increase compared to the control group(P<0.05).Conversely,the sleep quality scores decreased in both groups after treatment, with the study group showing a greater reduction compared to the control group(P<0.05).There were no severe complications observed during the treatment period in either group. Conclusion Auditory hallucinations symptom management can alleviate auditory hallucination symptoms in patients with schizophrenia, regulate neurotransmitter expression, enhance patients' quality of life, and is considered safe.
