Abstract:Objective To compare the efficacy of laparoscopic radical resection using the head tail combined approach and the head middle approach for the treatment of right-sided colon cancer. Methods Data were collected from 49 patients with right-sided colon cancer who underwent laparoscopic radical surgery in the Department of Oncology at Xinyang Central Hospital from September 2021 to September 2022.According to surgical approaches,23 patients with head side middle approach were included in the head middle group, and 26 patients with head tail side combined approach were included in the head tail combined group. All patients were followed up for 2 years after surgery. The operation-related indicators, hospitalization time, postoperative pathological examination, complications and 2-year survival[overall survival(OS),progression free survival(PFS)]were statistically analyzed. Results There was no significant difference in total hospitalization time, number of lymph node dissection, postoperative drainage volume, positive margin rate, complete tumor resection rate, and incidence of postoperative complications between the two groups(P>0.05).Compared with the head middle group, the head tail side combined group, the surgery time was shorter and the intraoperative bleeding was less(P<0.05).The average PFS of the head tail joint group was longer than that of the head middle group(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference in the average OS and 2-year survival rate between the groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Both the head tail combined approach and the head middle approach can benefit from laparoscopic radical surgery for right-sided colon cancer. However,in comparison, the head tail combined approach has a shorter operation time, less intraoperative bleeding, and a relatively longer PFS for patients.
