Abstract:Objective To explore the risk factors of neuropathy in patients with diabetes mellitus complicated with hypertension. Methods A total of 80 patients with diabetes mellitus complicated with hypertension diagnosed and treated in Shanxi Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from December 2023 to March 2025 were divided into neuropathy group(31 cases)and non-neuropathy group(49 cases)according to whether or not neuropathy occurred. The clinical characteristics and blood pressure control of the two groups were compared, and the risk factors of neuropathy in diabetic patients with hypertension was analyzed. Results By univariate analysis, there were no significant differences in gender, body mass index, coronary heart disease, diabetic nephropathy, diabetic peripheral vascular disease, smoking history and drinking history between the patients with neuropathy and those without neuropathy(P>0.05),but there were significant differences in age, course of disease, family history of diabetes and diabetic retinopathy between the patients with neuropathy and those without neuropathy(P<0.05).Compared with the non-neuropathy group, the systolic blood pressure and the average arterial pressure in the neuropathy group were higher(P<0.05),while the diastolic blood pressure in the neuropathy group was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Spearman analysis showed that systolic blood pressure and mean arterial pressure were positively correlated with neuropathy in patients with diabetes mellitus complicated with hypertension(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that the course of disease ≥ 5 years, systolic blood pressure, mean arterial pressure, family history of diabetes mellitus and diabetic retinopathy were the risk factors of neuropathy in patients with diabetes mellitus complicated with hypertension(P<0.05).Conclusion The occurrence of neuropathy in patients with diabetes mellitus complicated with hypertension is related to the course of disease, systolic blood pressure, mean arterial pressure, family history of diabetes mellitus and diabetic retinopathy.
